Analogue capture - Matrox or Panasonic?

I have limited access to a dedicated video editing PC including a Matrox RT.X100. I'm OK with capturing DV but have yet to master the settings for analogue capture. I've been considering a DVD recorder such as a Panasonic DMR-E95 and capturing and backing up my S-VHS tapes to DVD through the S-video input. As editing is not a priority, do I persevere with the complex Matrox or go for the Panasonic or something similar? It's the quality of the backup that is the priority.
Thanks
