In/Outs - I don't get it...

Ladies,

As the topic says: I don't get it.

Why do all those fancy recorders have fancy high-quality OUTputs (component or hdmi and such) while there are no recorders (at least I haven't seen them yet) with high-quality INputs?

I have a digital receiver for national TV (terrestrial) and a satellite receiver for some special channels (russian tv, porn and motorsports). I also have an analogue cable subscription to satisfy my rare masochistic moods. On top of that, since a few months I own a digital photocamera (Canon Ixus) and a Digital Videocamera (JVC whatever).

Last but least I am about to get a small 42" HD compatible plasma screen.

To accomodate all that shtuff, I am considering to get an "AV control center" a.k.a. audio/video receiver.

But to my really big surprise, there is really nothing in the market that even partly allows me to connect all my stuff. Considering the year we are living in, as well as the fact that my poor mans stuff is not really all that fancy and forward, I really can not understand why there is no equipment available with heaps of high-q inputs and outputs.

Am I missing something? Is there stuff available that I am not aware of? Are there DVD/HD recorders with "better than scart/RGB inputs" in the shops? If so, which ones?

Not really no. There are a variety of professional models available but for general CE the answer is not yet.
