MS Exchange Alternative?

Can anyone recommend an alternative to MS Exchange to use on a home network?

Ms exchange is a bit expensive on ott for what I need.

I have currently have 3 PCs, 1 file server running 24/7(XP Pro), a desktop (XP Pro) and a media centre (XP MCE) in the living room. i would like to install some software on the server that collect my pop3 mail and then stores it for office outlook to acess from the other two PC.

Is there anything out there?

Try vpop3 from www.pscs.co.uk

They have a special home version for up to 5 users. I have used it for 3-4 years with no problems.

You do not get the back office functions but you also don't pay the money for them either.

Maybe a Linux based mail server?

I have a full step by step guide, which i can scan in for you. It was in PCW a few months back.

Reading your post again, the cheapest way to do what you want is to store your outlook folder on the server and point the other two outlooks at them. You have to create personal folders instead of the exchange mail boxes but it works almost the same as long as there is not two computers running accessing it at the same time.
