Question Panasonic DMR E55 DVD RAM convert to DVD +/- R

Can anyone help. I have a Panasonic DMR E55 which records onto a DVD-RAM disc.
My problem is, this format can only be played back on the same machine, is it possible to convert DVD-RAM to a format which will play on other DVD players.

Yes. Have a look at the 'DVD-RAM to DVD-R' link in my signature.

You can get DVD recorders for PC's which handle the DVD-RAM format quite cheaply now.

Like this LG one from Ebuyer - DVD-R, DVD+R, DVDRAM, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, CD-R, CD-RW, Dual Layer for £35 inc VAT.

Indeed - infact in many cases you'll find the cheapest drives are from DVD-RAM compatible producers: in particular LG or Toshiba.

Coincidentally, anyone needing a replacement bare unit (ie no cables, screws, etc) can save a few more quid at SVP.

Not strictly true!

I've got a Panasonic E30 and a Toshiba RDSX32 and both read each others recordings on Ram disk with no problems.
When I bought the Toshiba I thought I would have to format all my Ram disks but not the case!

I noticed that the DVD drive I quoted was a silver one. The LG is available in beige too for just a shade over £32
