Avtech test on AVR 300

Does anyone know anything about the tests of the Arcam AVR 300 shown at http://www.milleraudioresearch.com/avtech/index.html ? This seems to show much less power available at 4 ohms than one would expect. (Open the AVR 300 review and search for "fail")

AVR300 dynamic power measurements

If you check the dates of the report you will find they are April 2004 - the measurements were made on a very early sample of the AVR300, before it hit the market.

Production units had the output stages' protection locii opened up which would have made a big difference to these figures. IIRC the 4 ohms dynamic power output measurements were also done on the 8 ohms setting which is not really representative of how the unit would be used in practice.

The bottom line is that this is not an issue - but well spotted :-)

HTH.
