5.1 surround on a pc duplicating rear left.

hi, im very very confused! i have just bought a new soundcard and speaker system for my pc and its working but the rear channels are very odd. Basicaly both rear speakers are playing the rear left channel and neither are playing the rear right channel i have tried switching them over in the rear of the subwoofer but no better, the front speakers and subwoofer are working fine and using the correct channels but not the rear. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? i havent tried much else because i have no idea what im doing tbh. i looked on creatives support site nad they had a sinlge thread with this problem but no replies so im hoping you guys are smarter than the people at creative (not a great challenge i admit)

soundcard:creative audigy 2zs
speakers:creative inspire p5800

i assumed using both creative products would eliminate any problems between them, looks like i was wrong

thanks in advance for any help.
