Barco Data800 Install Pic's

I have added some pic's of the install of my Barco800 which was done by Roland Brooks (B4) on Wednesday. I have also added photos of the dedicated room i am still trying to get finished. I will add more pictures when it is finished.

Hi Phil,<br />Good pictures and looks to be a nice install. I noticed that the mounting bracket (one of which I am in need of for my 801s....Roland?) looks as if it is fixed directly to the ceiling and appears not to have any left/right movement - if correct, did you just calculate the where the Barco should be and up she went or does the bracket allow some movement?<br />Regards<br /> Paul

But as one door closed another opened!.<br />I'm dealing with two "great" people at the moment (Gordon and Roland) and i'm sure which ever way i go i will end up with something stunning.<br />Atul has been helpful as well, but his low hours Graphic808s is slightly out of my price range. Nice one, it just goes to show that you don't have spend silly money but still get quality.

I always wondered how you got these things to the roof without killing anyone. Now I know.

The bracket is a proper Barco unit. It is in two halves, one fixes to the 800, the other bolted to the ceiling. It does have movement once in place to get right so allows some adjustment when the PJ is in place.This is achieved by losening slightly 4 bolts holding the plates together. There are also 4 steel rods which go into the ceiling space and through two peices of 2x4" wood, this is placed over 4 joists to distribute the weight. And you are right, it needs to be strong to hold up roland <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

I was surprised with Rolands quality instal for the price, it would have cost me lots more else where and i doubt it would have been as professional as the install recieved.

Looks very nice Phil,

I could have done with one of those lifts for the PJ. It took 3 of us to lift my 808 into place, and then to try and slide it on to the bracket <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0"> Unfortunately Roland didn't exist then so i had to do the job myself.

They are called Genie hoists,you can get them as a winder unit (Like Rolands) or air pressured<br />beleive me they don't half make the job easier.

I'm just in the middle of doing the final part of the install for my cinema room. I too have a Barco Data 800 which I must confess is an utter beast of a machine <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> The mount I have was purchased from the States (Premier Mounts) for about £170 and looks almost identical to the one in Phil's pictures. I've also done the same as Phil by laying beams across the joist to bolt into to help spread the weight, but instead of using wooden 2x4's a friend of mine got hold of some L shaped RSJ's and I'm using those instead.

Have you ever noticed how photographs add 10lbs (at least)

RSJ (reinforced Steel Joists) are probably a bit of over kill for a CRT projector. But I have always found it better to over engineer than risk a PJ coming down.

Gennie lift came from the states mine was about (£1600) but you can hire them from HSS hire shops. Dont be temped to get the very big one it doesn't go through a door (dough!) there are loads of differnt mounts around and each install / PJ requires something different.

Hi Roland,

Your probably right, it was a bit of an overkill but my mate offered to do it all and they looked all nice and shiny <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">

My friend also told me that the correct term for RSJ is Rolled Steel Joist(s) as it refers to their manufacturing process. You learn something new everyday <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
