You can get a ipod shuffle 512mb for £70 but you can get a Mini ipod 4gb for £130 which holds 8 times as much for less than double the cost http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Produ...e=apple%20ipod

If you live in England I've just been in Boots The Chemist and they are selling 4 gig IPod Minis for £125. Well worth the extra £25.

emm he states it has to be solid state , ipod mini's aint solid state
and i certainly wouldnt pay the money for a shuffle since it has no screen to see whats going on and it costs the same as some 1 gig players so why go for a brand name when your halfing the features and half capacity which is most important on solid state players?

Its the MP3 pedantic police
Usually prices like this can make people change their minds.
If he's looking for something to go running with then its the only hard disk player that is recommended for running with. Thats the reason I bought one.
I also have an IRiver, Archos and MSI Megastick 256.

Well for the extra £25 the IPod Mini is a steal (as long as you get it from BOOTS) and it is the only hard drive model that a manufacturer recommends for doing exercise with. I run 3 miles a day with mine.

sorry for double post. Why MUST it be solid state? Size? Budget? You need it 2 be 100% jog proof? If its last point, my Sony HD3 has enough ram 2 be jog proof for 25 mins, but I've played football with it in my pocket for longer & its never skipped.

the reason for solid state is for jogging and climbing, I also want it to be very small as if its not there and I want to pay upto £100.00 max. I just thought hdd was unsuitable for jogging with.

OK Just buy online for cheapest price. How about new Sony NW-E407 1gb? Although having seen it in Sony store, surface looks like it'll be prone to scratches. Not sure about Samsung, but Creative is solid choice. Their products have good battery life, useability, specs + features and they have made MP3 players for long enough 2 know what they are doing. Shame their HD players r a bit bulky otherwise I would have got a Creative instead of Sony HD3.
please don't get Apple Shuffle just 'cos of brand. Apple are taking the _____!
I mean shuffle play only, no screen. For same price, other choices have screen, various play modes, FM radio with some.
