Using 2 i-pods

I have a I-mac which doesnt have any usb2 connections but has 2 firewire ones. My daughter had been asking for a shuffle for her birthday but I informed her that as it had a usb2 connection it would not work on our computer.
Last night however I used a usb2 cable with my i-pod and it worked!

My question therefore is if I buy the shuffle how will I download songs on to this without knackering the 900 songs I have on mine!

The best way is probably to set her up with her own user account on your iMac, so she can have her own iTunes library for her iPod shuffle. That way, the music is totally independent.
