Nice looking Cable Trunking
Hi all,
I've wall mounted our new lcd screen in the bedroom and need to hide the cable connections in some nice looking trunking. The wife would prefer a chrome faced look to the trunking but I can't seem to find any at all. She swears that she saw it "on that decorating program"!
Embedding them in the wall is not an option at the moment as the wall is papered and I don't have the time to redecorate the whole room!
Any suggestions or pointers would be gratefully received!

what connections do u have to hide? video and power?

I need to hide one power cable 1 scart (round) and an Svideo + 2rca phono flattish type cable. The svideo one is the widest at about 20 - 25mm (that's from memory as I'm at work at the moment.)

Have you thought about using some sort of pipe or conduit.
You will find it much easier to source decorative piping than
trunking.
Just a thought.
There are some great examples of using two pipes, to look
like a stand, in the plasmas out for the lads thread.

You could try this web site http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk they are electical wholesalers or you might try somewhere like plumb centre or some of the plumbing web sites.

Just a thought, but, can you access the other side of the wall.
Is it within your property, and in need of decorating?????
It's not ideal, but it is an option.

I mounted a false wall behind my LCD. i.e. large piece of plaster board wallpapered to match the room, slightly wider than the set and running from slightly above it to the the floor. all cables go through it and down to floor level where they can be hidden under edge of carpet (if you have one). mounting bracket goes though the plaster board to the real wall of course
Probably a bit more DIY than you were planning on, it took me a couple of days, I think it similar to what some profesional installers do, but it does avoid any trunking and it is quite cheap.
PS used TLC for electrical stuff mentioned above and they are very reliable.
