Some CD Info from ANYONE on UD-M30 please..?

Hi all,

Am looking to purchase one of these models ( good price although discontinued).
The info I am after is as follows:

Can they play CDRs, CDRWs, MP3s which have been recorded on PCs rather than on audio specific CD writers?

Have tried to find the info out, even find an online PDF manual etc., but no joy. If anyone knows, I'd very much appreciate your knowledge.

Kind regards,

Il Padrino

Oh, and if anyone knows, what is the difference between the Denon UD-M30 and M31 which replaced it?

I've got a UD-M30. It definitely can't play MP3s recorded onto CD. I'm pretty sure it can play CD-Rs - not sure about CD-RWs, but I seem to recall a friend who bought both the UD-M30 and the CDR-M30 CD recorder was advised to use a CD-RW for initial recordings and then copy that onto a CD-R, and the only way he would have been able to do that would be if the UD-M30 could play back CD-RW.

I think the differences between the M30 and the M31 were largely cosmetic - the M31 claims 22WPC as against the M30's 20WPC, and the publicity material for the M31 explicitly states CD-R and CD-RW compatibility - but as I said, I'm pretty sure the M30 does that as well.

FWIW, I'd recommend the M30 very highly. I bought one as a portable system to take on holiday with me, and I don't think you'll get better sound for the price elsewhere.
