Problems extending Keyboard & Mouse cable to 10M

Hi

Niavely bought 2 10M extension cables off EBAY for Mouse & Keyboard, but find it doesn't work. Is there a distance limit on cable for PS2 conenctions ? (Lights show on keyboard & mouse to prove connection)

Appreciate most people use remote keyboard & mouse, but this will not work for me as PC is on 1 side of deep fireplace with Amp, & screen / mouse / keyboard the other.

Any help appreciated . Am after cheap & cheerful solution.

Cheers Dave

USB should do it.
Or a KVM switch to boost it?

KVM switch may well do it, otherwise making sure that the wires don't go near any obvious sources of interference and perhaps adding some ferrite cores at the computer end.

I use this to switch between my 2 machines but it has a DC-in socket available so I don't see why it wouldn't be able to re-send the signal:
