Advice re micro systems

I am not really a high-fi buff and want to change mt old Sony unit that considrs of record deck (no need now), cassette, single cd player, radio and spkrs for a micro uniy. as 'Er-indoors wants something smaller in corner of room. Can any one advise me of package makes to avoid or that are good value for the price? I would not wish to pay nore than £300 in all.

Neither of us particularly kike our sound particularly loud (as some younger folk do- as we are of a different vintage)? What do you consider adequate power output for a 15ft x 12ft room?

And look at the TEAC mini seperates. I own the 250 reference (same size as the Denon) and rate it.
