Just found this forum and find it very interesting. Let me introduce myself. I am a custom installer/electrical contractor based near southampton hampshire and a gadget fanatic!!!!! Not doing enough custom install as the electrical buisness is so busy. I would like to do more but find it hard to get into the buisness as time is so short and days are never long enough, I want to get out of the electrical buisness completely but never seem to do this.

My experiance is Crestron to high level, smartkontrols to high level, leax, cbus, homevision,x10, loads of mp3 stuff, security systems and so on and so on. Have done some really cool stuff with crestron for myself and one day will unleash it on anyone who wants it.

Ok first post so just some blurb so will do more, off on a breakdown now.

Looks a great site.

Last thing I would love to see installs talking more and helping each other when projects are too big, one thing that has stopped me getting on in CI is trying to find guys I can rely on. This has held me back something rotten as we always struggle in the electrical industry trying to find good guys who we can trust, the CI buisness is even worse! Maybe another organisation like CEDIA is needed run by smaller installers or one man companies like myself trying to get into CI.

Bye for now.

Paul

I work with several install companies, manufacturers etc in order to select the people suitable to do the job in hand (when I have to swallow my pride and admit I can't do something!!). Plenty other installers do to, but the onus is on *you* to get out there and make things happen.

Why do we need a smaller version of CEDIA? CEDIA is exactly what you are after to find like minded individuals/companies. This forum (and others) is a start to meeting people in the industry. Visit AV shows and sign up for CEDIA and get on some training this summer in Birmingham. We'll all be up there putting the AV world to rights!!

Good Luck and Welcome!!

Liam
