ISF tour Milton Keynes area

Hi guys. I've asked Spectre if I can post this short note and got the OK.

I'm going to be down Milton Keynes area on 8th October to do ISF calibration on a chaps projector. I'll be travelling either night of 6th or early am 7th. So if there's anyone else in this area or on my route down M6 who would like their display greyscale calibrated then get in touch now. The idea is that everyone who has work done can share the travel and accomodation costs bringing the charges down.

I read on another of your posts that you can do this on plasma's.

How much of a difference does it make?<br />How much is it likely to cost?

If it will give a better picture, I'd probably be interested (if the price is right <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> ). Northampton's not that far away from MK.

Correct greyscale calibration of any device makes an improvement. Go to my web site at <a href="http://www.convergent-av.co.uk" target="_blank">www.convergent-av.co.uk</a> and look at the "services" page and then "Example ISF". You should see pics of what it did to a Panasonic plasma.

Whether it's possible to do it on yours depends on a few things. I don't have service manuals for every unit so if you don't know how to get in to the service menu you need to check one thing.

Is there an on-screen menu that lets you alter the level of RED/GREEN and BLUE in the light and dark areas of the picture. Sometimes called cut offs and gains. Might be marked as Red w/b adjust or such like......If there are no red green blue adjusts and you don't fancy buying a service manual then you may have to bide youtime till I can get my hands on that info.

Re the other post about whether you can send prog scan to your plasma. It has VGA in so the answer there is YES. Except the chances are there will be no aspect ratio control on that input and it may even be stuck at 4:3....so you would want to check that before buying an off board de-interlacer/scaler.

If you want an idea of cost then email me and I can send you a price list. I class Plasma's as direct view TV's so they are cheapest device to do.....considering how much these things cost I think it's a snip!
