Just bought a Pioneer 109 DVDRW, any opinions..?

Just bought one of these on my dinner, any opinions/advice ..? I will bang in in my machine when I get home.

I've got the 107, been absolutely fine, the 109 should be even better....

Good writer. Same as the 107 but supports dual layer (although the media is stil prohibitively expensive.

I'd go for the NEC but purely because it is much quieter - The Pio writers sound like planes taking off when you put a disc in

Same here - These are great reliable drives. At Christmas last year Computer Video Editing mag voted the 107/A07 the best DVD writer of the year.

Agree, dual layer discs are way too expensive at the moment. Also they are unreliable when you try to play them on a standalone DVD player - mainly due to poor software for authoring the discs. But this should quickly change.
I've not got a 'silent' PC, but certainly don't find the Pioneer drive to be too loud when in use. No more so than my other optical drive.
