I have recently bought the excellent 46WH08 TV. I have a cranky old Samsung 807 DVD connected to it via a scart lead to the RGB socket and a digital coaxial cable for sound.

My question is how can I tell if I am getting Dolby Digital sound while a DVD is playing? There is something in the TV manual about one of the on screen menu headings displaying information if Dolby Digital is working, but I can't get that to work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ensure your DVD is set to replay Dolby Digital. Check the menu on the disc, you may need to select DD, possibly from within the languages menu.

The DVD movie has to have dolby support!

Press the dolby button at the bottom of the remote (it is like a bd sign)

This will bring up the dolby menu.

This is what I did.

1)use the surround sound test, this goes through each speaker and produces a fuzzy sound.

2) If you recived a sound from each speaker go to the first screen again and select the top option (dolby I think) then press enter and exit.

Listen closle to one of the rear speakers to see if it works
