Just checking the specs & its got over the 3805:

HDMI output/3 HDMI input/1 DVI input with the ability to output HDMI via DVI
/video conversion to HDMI/& receive DVD-A from HDMI
2 firewire inputs
Ethernet input (handy for mp3's from your PC methinks)
built-in Faroudja DCDI scaler (dunno if that's any good)

it basically outspecs every other amp/reciver within -/+ £700 of its price

I saw one at the Bristol show & IMO its a massive improvement over its predecessor (AVC-A11SR) & its predecessors bigger brother (AVC-A1SR)

AFAIK only 2 models outspec this one & they are £4K- each.

gets my vote for £1700 more methinks

I think it has good feature set.

Worth the premium over a 3805.........that's always very subjective, but to my eyes (can't say ears as I haven't heard it yet) yes it is.

It's Room EQ is also far more sophisticated than what you get in the 3805. It uses the same Audyssey MultEQ XT system found on the flagship A1XV.

Unfortunately it won't decode Dolby Digital Plus or DTS-HD to their full specification. I couldn't justify spending ~£2500 on a new amp without those upcoming standards.
