Hello all - just noticed that Earthsea is on sale on Play..now this has tv movie written all over it to me but I read this book when I was 11 and loved it! (I'm 36 now and still remember it fondly so it must have been pretty good) - is this movie a straight to video crappy cash in effort or has anyone seen it and thought ...no bad! Can't find any reviews of it which would suggest it has never seen the silver screen..

Any thoughts or rose tinted ramblings welcomed..

Its a TV mini series. From the comments IMDB it is rubbish? Have a read here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407384/) and make your own mind up.

I would assume it's the US Scifi's mini-series that aired last year.
Not read the novels so can't comapre the two but the show was pretty much an average budget fantasy adventure, nothing special.

Know a couple of people that have both read the book and seen the series and they were not impressed with it.

I loved the book and even before the mini series came out thought of re-reading it.

thanks all - sadly my suspicions were correct...my son has just hit 11 I might just get him the books and have a sneaky wee read when he's finished..
