I have a Sony 725 DVD player which is
now exhibiting the dreaded lip synch problem.

How can I tell which version of firmware my player has?

Press <Title>, <Clear>, <Power On>

each button after one another ( not all together ) on the remote while the player is powered off.

After the combination the player powers up into the service menu.

Be Carefeul !

Where did you buy the player from ? And what films are now experiencing the lip sync problems ?

I got the player from Musical Images in December 99.

I have seen lip synch problems on MIB R1 (DTS) & The Mummy R1 (DD)

The Mummy is quite common, Saving Private Ryan DTS and Bowfinger are the discs I've seen it on. Autocalib cleared them all up.

Excuse my ignorance.

Neil,

Autocalib cleared them all up for a while. But the problem does not go away completely. I did just that only to find out more lip sync problem on other titles. Have had my player upgraded recently and the problem seems to have disappeared.

M.Joshi,

Lip Synch is when suddenly the sound is out of sync with the picture!

I have accessed the service menu as
mentioned by Spooky_uk. The menu had a versions option.

Choosing this option displayed quite a few version numbers.

I am guessing that the SYSCON is the one I am looking for. It was 1.8

You need the 2.6 upgrade which should clear your problem.
