It's down to personal taste. I looked at both and went for the Pioneer in the end as I thought it sounded more refined and natural.

If you're into "Banging Ibiza Choons 2001" and drive an XR31 with giant subs in the back, then you'd probably prefer the JVC as it has ridiculous amounts of bass (even with the bass settings quite low it drowns out the mid and high range).

As for picture, I found the JVCs was nice, but a bit too dark.

I'm really happy with my Pioneer <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">

Hope this helps. They're both really good, but it is down to personal preferences.

Thanks for the view, i had my mind pretty much set on the Pioneer but after seeing a review of the JVC, i wavered a bit.

Ah well, back to the Pioneer.

I'm looking for a complete AV system and have narrowed it down to these two. The Pioneer has recieved a lot of praise but has no scart out. The JVC got an excellent review in a magazine recently but which of the two has best audio/visual?. They are both similar priced. Or is it worth waiting for the DAV-S500 or S800? Or any other reccomended systems?
