One of my fave films, it is a fantastic ensamble performance, Alec Baldwin, Jack Lemon Al Pacino putting in especially fine performances. The film manages to generate fantastic atmosphere, drama and dialogue (if you dont mind swearing!) and all this featuring estate agents!!! Jack Lemon gave to me was one of his finest performances, a struggling salesman, personaly as well as professionaly. An all time classic (imho). highly recomended.

I was recommended this after having enjoyed Boiler Room, but was rather dissapointed with it. Saying that, Al Pacino is fantastic in it. One of the best character performances I've seen.

fantastic film, but if you got ythe r2 version , bin it! pan and scan, r1 is anomrphic extras and much better picture.

The sales man called Gill in the simpsons that offten makes aperances is based on jack lemons charecter from the film.

Too true, I have the region 1 version, 10 Year Anniverary Special Edition, DTS soundtrack (if thats your bag) - I do have to admit the rain effects sound cool! Great range of extas too, directors commentary, tribute to jack lemon and a documentary on "real and fictional salesman" that is better than it sounds!

If you like the film it is worth double dipping (IMHO), if you already own the region 2, get the region 1, its on my top 20 dvd's posted earlier!!

This is my favourite film ever. The dialogue is tremendous, if you like stylish swearing, this has plenty. The cast is excellent and to top it all Alec Baldwin's character is one of the most gloriously horrid people to ever grace the screen. "Blake" gives a speech to the troops near the start of the film that I must have watched 100 times now....and driven the girlfriend mad with endless recitals..."What's your name?" - " :censored: you, THAT's my name!"

Like others in this thread have already said, bin the R2 version! I had this until the R1 special edition was released and I "donated" the R2 version to my parents (who, with their square-screen TV, wouldn't notice the difference...)

Agree with all of the above. Has to be one of my favorites too.
If you want to see some of the best acting of 90's if not of all time. then watch this.
The script and acting is stunning.
R1 version is excellent, sound is good too.. All that rain adds to the atmosphere.

Why is it women just dont "do" film recitals, my wife looks at me and my mates with quizical indifference when we recite lines from the Life Of Brian, Star Wars etc. Whats that all about?

Which was reused to great effect in a recent episode of Monkey Dust.

Its an ace film, just don't expect an awful lot to happen in it.

Also one of my all-time favourite films. If you want to see a great story, great dialogue, great acting, great characterisations, great lines, great humour, great sadness - then its for you. If you like explosions, SFX, CGI then I'd give it a miss. Superb performances by Pacino, Lemmon, Spacey, Harris, Baldwin. It only has a few different scenes in the entire film (was originally a play) but its a 9/10 for me.

In fact, on the film review website rottentomatoes.com it gets 97% - thats up there with the likes of Goodfellas, Godfather etc.

One of my top fave movies also and one I meant to get on dvd for years but somehow never got around to it. (waiting on a good R2 version for so long I guess I forgot about it)

Anyway I got it last week from cd wow hk for £6.13 :thumbsup: (R1 version of course ;) )
