This is for all those people who have ordered the box sets and have watched them.
Was thinking about getting the region 1 version (exchange rate quite faverable at the moment) of the Ultimate Edition, however I already own the entire set (without the added footage to Reloaded granted) but is it realy worth buying again?
I do enjoy the films but how much better is the picture/sound quality if at all, and does the additional footage add or detract from the film?
These will no doubt be released in high def in the next couple of years (which I probably will buy again) and I am not that fussed for tha actual extras.
Anyone care to help presuade one way or the other?
Cheers,

I think you should wait for the hi def version in the next 2 years, you have seen all of them before - the matrix is a significant visual improvement, but you would struggle to spot the difference on the sequels. they all now exist in hi definition masters and will have improved sound on blu-ray or hddvd. How many times would you watch them in the next 2 years?
I think the studios are very cynical, preparing the hd versions for release and then cashing in by putting them on normal dvd first - then again £40 for 10 discs isn't that bad but I don't watch extras either I still havn't seen the appendices of the 2 towers EE or listened to any commentaries.
The 'extra footage' on Reloaded is the scenes shot for the xbox game 'Enter The Matrix'.
These scenes are on the 'Reloaded Revisited' disc and NOT edited into the movie.

Grey torq,
That is sort of what I thought, probably would not watch them that often.
So High def release it is whenever that is going to be. To be honest just needed talking out of spending more money. Ta!
Pug72,
And that realy made my mind up. Had thought that the footage was in the film. Oh well. :clown:
Thanks,

Matrix Ultimate edition Worth Getting?
Not when the third film was that appalling
They will probably release the first film on its own after Christmas, so it might be worth waiting a little and seeing what happens.

I have read the transfer on the first film has more detail but they have crushed the blacks so that low level detail isnt so good and changed the colour scheme to match the sequels ( no more green tint ) havent watched my boxset yet but will soon.

IMHO the Ultimate Box is well worth getting, the box looks very smooth, plus the first part (The Matrix) is of considerably better quality than the old single disc release. Can't say anything about the two other parts as I didn't see them, but I "think" they remastered only the first movie. BTW I have the R2 version.

( no more green tint )
 I liked the green tint. Made the whole matrix world more surreal.

Check out www.dvdanswers.com for a comparison between the new transfer and the original Region 4 transfer. The new version defently looks alot better in the screenshots than the original and the green tint hasent been removed, infact it looks like it has been improved.

I have the Matrix (single disc) , the Matrix revisited (single disc) (extras), the Matrix reloaded (Double disc), the Matrix revolutions (Double disc) and the Animatrix (single disc) . How much extra new material is there in the box set? Are the extras from the earlier releases still included in this box-set?

I havent looked through the whole set yet but I am told none of the extras from the previous releases (except Revisited) are present in the boxset, it is all new stuff.

Hmmm......... Well if a single disc release version of the Matrix is released sometime soon maybe I will get that to tide me over until the High Def version.
The comparisons of the new transfer do look quite a bit better in the screenshots.
