Is this series available on DVD yet?

I have searched the usual places with no success but there are far to many hits to make a precise judgement!

I'd be happy with a pre-order!

I've got them stored on my sky+ but don't have time at the moment to watch them, I'm halfway through the first episode!

The worry is that the disk is showing signs of a premature death!

I'm not very familiar with the new series of Battlestar Galactica, but is this the DVD you mean?

No, that's the first series.

No, that's the first series.

Now you see how confusing it is!

That is in fact the mini series that preceded the full series! It was, IIRC, two full length feature films.

Yeah, very confusing :D

There is currently no other DVD for the new-style Battlestar Galactica officially available in the UK.

The series itself is still running on Sky so I doubt you will see it on dvd until well after its first run.

The pilot miniseries is available on dvd as one 3 hourish film (16x9 5.1 I think but the picture quality is a litle noisy although this may be deliberate its a bit heavy handed).

You can get the individual episodes off the net ( I don't have sky its how I watch it!) but the quality is variable , most are about vhs quality.

Thanks guys.

I'd hoped that it had already been shown in the states and that a DVD was/would be available over there.

Looks like I'll have to wait

Infact the US doesnt start showing the new series until January by which time Sky will have nearly finished the series, makes a change for us to get something before them.

People record them off Sky and upload them with varying levels of compression and quality of recordings.

Yes.

But..... the series on Sky now is 'The' series. So technically the one in the link 'is' the first series, if not technically in the truest form.

The DVD at the link is the pilot episode for the series currently being shown on Sky One.

Originally it was just a 3 hour mini-series but when they decided to make a series it turned into the pilot episode so I am sure when the new series is released on DVD it will be in there at the start where it belongs.

No, THIS (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076984/) was the first series!

It would probably be more accurate to call the one in the link the Pilot for the latest series

Don't forget the series has taken a break and will not return on Sky One
until early Jan.

still got to catch up on the last episode shown monday - so no more after this one till January? - what a rip-off by sky (once again). loks like they need more air-time for Simpsons episodes :(

Everything stops for a few weeks around xmas, there wont be any new episodes of SG-1 or Atlantis till January either but considering Sky One will be ahead of the Sci-Fi channel on all three shows, I dont feel so ripped off.
I would really feel ripped off if I lived in the US and had to wait 4 or 5 months for new episodes of a series knowing the episodes had already been shown in other countries. Thanks to the Sci-Fi channel break on SG-1 and Atlantis, Sky One will actually be ahead of the US when it comes back in January and the Sci-Fi channel will only be getting episode 1 of Battlestar Galactica when we get episode 10.

SG1 and Atlantis are on next week as normal. Don't know about week after yet.

I thought that SG-1 and Atlantis had finished for xmas but you are right with there being new episodes next week so it seems that by the time the Sci-Fi channel starts airing new episodes of SG-1 and Atlantis on January 21st, Sky One will be 4 episodes ahead with SG-1 and 3 episodes ahead with Atlantis.
