my daughter has one of these karaoke micraphones which plugs in to a tv via AV,It works fine on all the portable tv's around the house but when it's pluged in to the 32" tv all we get is a black/white screen with "waves",is it somthing to do with the tv being 100hz?

You haven't supplied enough info to anser the question.

What kind of connection is on the microphone ?
Does it connect to the other TVs via phono (RCA) plugs, SCART or what ?
What inputs does the TV have ?
What is the make/model of the offending TV ?
Can it be switched to a 50 Hz mode ?
Have you tried cycling through the A/V inputs on your TV ?
Are there different audio modes on the offending TV (which could be cycled through) ?
