Warning:no Warranty On Ebay Purchase Arcam

I spoke to Arcam this morning who informed me that they will not honour warranty on any Arcam bought off Ebay. Whether they can do this legally or not I don't know. They said there is no problem in tranferring warranty on private sales.

Just to let you everyone know.

That’s completely out of order - Ebay is a private sale. The only point to make is the danger of inadvertently buying stolen items. Most Arcam owners register their kit and if a stolen serial number comes in for service then you would probably lose the kit and the money.

Well said! I know there can be some dodgy things on ebay but it's no different to buying through an add in the local paper or even through this message board! As long as you're careful then ebay can great place to find that bit of kit you're after.

I think it is decent enough that Arcam will honour warranty transfers, the majority of manufacturers don't - enough through private sale.

I agree with you but to me it seems unreasonable to single out ebay users buying from other private sellers that choose to sell through ebay.

I agree. If Arcam allow tranferrable warranties then it shouldn't make a difference whether it's through eBay or not. But like others have mentioned, how will they know?

I'm surprised someone from Arcam has not come to clarify on this matter, though i agree it seems ridiculous that they can discriminate against ebay users in such a way

I can guarantee this is Arcam policy as I spoke to Matt Frost and he also said the Sales Manager Phil Lowdon (sorry if spelling wrong) would also confirm.

Let them publicly deny it here!

They may have been talking about new Arcams sold on Ebay. As Spiderv6 points out, how would they even know?
