iScan HD and Sky Chroma Bug?

I've just got my new PHD7 (which is great btw) and an iScan HD.

I was under the impression that the iScan would get rid of the chroma problem with the Sky+ box. It shows as the red component of the picture displaced towards the bottom right.

I'm using an output of 720p/60 (but it doesn't actaully make any difference what output format I use) connected to a components on the Panny.

The Chroma Filter (CUE) was set to "Auto" already but setting it to "On" (or "Off") still doesn't make any difference.

I've only changed the brightness on the Panny (-7) so far but tweaking other settings didn't make any difference to the displacement.

Also, tweaking various parameters on the picture settings on the iScan didn't make any difference to the displacement.

Have I done something wrong or can't the iScan get rid of the problem?

Thanks for any advice...

Mark

Hi Mark,

I don't think it's the iScan, or at least, my iScan (software version 5.6-1.42) corrects for the CUE perfectly. That is, on my PACE PUMA sat receiver (RGB). Another receiver doesn't have the problem (it's an HD sat receiver).
As you mention, the error is clearly visible on red surfaces (we're so lucky many stations on satellite display test charts all day) as a vertical displacement of the lower red line. I think that with component input (and composite/Svideo) you can correct the horizontal displacement in the PICTURE CONTROL -> Y/C Delay menu.
If you can't solve the error, you'd better send an email to the DVDO support team. My experience is that they are very helpfull.

best,
Bert

Thanks Bert,

Actually my software is 5.6-1.31 so I guess it's probably worth updating to see if that makes any difference.

I found the Y/C delay. As you say it only changes the horizontal position. The current setting (0) was best. Shame you can't change the postion vertically but I assume there's a technical reason why you can't!

As you say they are very helpful. They quickly answered my pre-sales questions. Hopefully, they might have some suggestions...

Regards
Mark

Updated to 1.42 and it seems ok now. Well as well as a Sky picture can get. Certainly the red isn't all over the place now.

I did see something in the notes about a fix to S-Video inputs - which is what I'm using for the moment.
