arcam avr100 vs new cheap amps

posted this on the av recievers thread also, but here might be a better option. i have a pretty decent stereo setup but i'm thinking of adding some hc kit without spending a small fortune. looking at a avr 100 to be used to power the centre and rears, what does this compare sound wise to like to say a newer denon etc around the £400 mark? not interested in anything other than 5.1 so the avr100 would be fine for features.

I had an AVR100 - and in its day, was one of the best recivers in its class. Very good for music as well as movies. Given the low price of used units, i'd be inclined to go this route... great sound for the money. Its limited in terms of features to perhaps todays low end amps though.

If it has the features you want - you wont be disappointed with the quality IMHO.
