Just popped in to my local 'Focus' DIY store and RING, the electrical lighting people, are now producing their own mains voltage GU10 LED bulbs. These come in the normal varieties of colours, including (bluish) white, have a 50000 hours rated life expectancy but, best of all, they're dimmable as well. Cost for each is pretty reasonable at £8.99 each. There's no wattage equivalent given on the packaging, but I'd expect them to be around 15 watts given the amount of LED's in the lamp. Handy for those people who'd like to give LED lighting a try without the hassle of ordering blind.

I saw these too the other day and was wondering the same thing. I asked the chap in the shop to show me how they looked as I reckon these would look nice but i guess I will lob 8.99 at it and then take it back on the basis that they could not show me how it looked.
I will get one next week and post my thoughts!

It's nice to see that the prices have dropped to a reasonable level, as I've seen similar bulbs advertised for around £15 to £20 each, and that a major lighting manufacturer is starting to distribute them - they say we'll all be using LED lighting within the next 5 years or so in one form or another. :) :)
Don't forget that these are dimmable as well as not all LED GU10 bulbs are.
I've bought 5 but haven't installed them yet

Maplins also seem to be selling similar ones - they say mains voltage, est life 30,000 hours, 15 LEDs, uses 1.8 Watts.

I bought 10 very similar to these for my bathroom.
I went for white but unfortunately they just weren't bright enough, the light they give off is very nice and 'clean' but are only really viable for background lighting.
I imagine they would be nice in a room that had secondary lighting (table lamps etc) which clearly isn;t viable in a bathroom!
