Vaio keyboard config

I have just bought a Sony Vaio A217s. I have the regional and keyboard settings set up for English UK but the keys do not correspond to what they should! When i press the number 1 i get 21, when i press p i get [p! can anyone help!!!

Sounds like your keyboard has had something spilt on it and the PC thinks you're pressing more than 1 button at a time.
