i know where your comming from popester, and then they bung on the state tax on top of that......then you have to be careful not to pay duty on top of that, when you get your goods back to the uk. its cheaper over the net.

Well the Dollar to Pound exchange rate is pretty poor at the moment. If you look around you will see 2 Disc DVD SE's for $20, which usually equals out to about £12, but at the moment its about £14

Buying over the counter in the US is v.expensive, and we complain about rip off Britain?!!

The Internet is definitely the cheapest place to buy commodity items.

...of course, if you have your laptop with you in your hotel room you could order over the net, get discs delivered to your room, enjoy free shipping within the US, unwrap the films and bring them back to the UK without incurring the wrath of customs.

Weekend in New York anyone? LOL

Canada is cheap for DVD movies, and also for audio CDs btw. Head for A&B Sound, pretty big and pretty cheap. Got Gladiator in their Vancouver store last month for C$30 (£13.50).

I am off to Singapore and Sydney myself soon, so can anyone comment on DVD prices there?

DVD prices have generally droped here in Amerika, except for Paramount and most especially Disney. Disney has a think tank dedicated to theorizing how to price gouge ze wurld! State sales taxes are a bummer. It's 8 and 3/4 % here in Tennessee, ugh! DVD Planet here I come!
