Which is the best region for Crouching Tiger, Hiden Dragon? (ignoring the superbit version).
It must have:
English 5.1
Mandarin 5.1
English subtitles and preferably Mandarin subtitles.
Also, how accurate is the translation of the English (and Mandarin if available) subtitles?

The Best Translated version is the R3. The R1, 2 and 4 versions are slightly simplified with slightly less dramatic emphasis.

I agree with Jenz (especially the earlier R3 release).
But if you aren't fussed about the extras then the R1 Superbit is the best by far.

I really want the best English <-> Mandarin translation to help me learn Mandarin.
I guess I need to look for an early R3 then.

Your chances of getting an early R3 disc, new, is unlikely, as once the Asian distributors got wind of people from the US and UK importing it, for the English subtitles, they recalled it, and removed them.
You may be lucky to find a copy secondhand from an HCC fan, via this very site, or else it'll be via somewhere like Ebay, but then you'll probably end up paying a small fortune for it!

I have the original R3 version and the R1 Superbit.
Wanna keep hold of my orginal R3 though. It's my little treasure :D .
Surely there are other films that have both soundtracks on??
