I will keep this brief!.
I just watched it today and i enjoyed it.
It is not a deep or heavy movie, so you can just sit down and enjoy the show!.
I had heard nothing about it so just rented it on dvd on impulse.
Good surround effects and zero mpeg artifacts.
A "popcorn" movie but thats what i wanted!.

You asked, so...
Complete rubbish. Terrible, contrived plot, passable effects, but not even worth renting IMO.

It's far better than Mission to Mars. Yes, it's contrived, but what do you expect?

I was the same as you Furious, I bought it and my reaction was so so.
I can see why people hate it. But at the same time it's watchable 'popcorn' stuff as stated.
Just don't expect a good film, but it's ok. I am 50/50 about it.

As you can see, my fence sitting stance is first class.

Angry

Received it and watched it yesterday.

I thought the effects were on par with the type of film that it was, but the acting left a little to be desired, except for Tom Sizemore who seems to bring something to each movie that he is in. Each actor just seemed to be a little uninspired in my opinion, as if they would rather be doing something else. However, the film moved at a reasonable pace, but in my opinion, they could have left out the 'flashback' sequences. I was left feeling a little unsatisfied at the end - an anticlimax I thought.
What annoyed me the most was the lack of features on the disk. I was at least hoping for a decent 'making of' or a 'behind the scenes'.
Also, an important point to note is the fact that the release carries a BBFC 12 rating, yet at the end of the film, Mr Kilmer give the plant a middle finger and can be very clearly heard to say "F**k you planet !"
I'm no prude, but I don't thin I'd be too happy with my kids seeing/hearing that if they were 12 ..

Overall 6/10 for film
4/10 disk ...

I thought it was great. LOADS of gadgets and it all looks hugely techy. MtM looks crude and more Nasa-like in comparison. A great adventure romp set in space.
