HI,

Can anyone help me out, please. I recently rented the superb American comedy "ROAD TRIP", and loved every minute of it. Now, the rental-only version print, is the same as the original cinema release.

However, on Monday 28th May, here in the UK, we are getting "RAOD TRIP: UNSEEN AND UNCUT" (or something very similar) being released on video and DVD.

My question is this: despite having scanned the BBFC website, I can't get any details on running times or if any cuts have been made. Now as the "Uncut" version will be longer than the rental-only edition, what I need to know is whether the R2 "Uncut" edition will be EXACTLY the same as the R1 "Unrated" edition?

Can anyone help me with any details please, or do I simply have to wait until tomorrow, and go into HMV to find out?!

Duh,

Have just managed to answer my own question, by checking Play 24/7's site.

R1 "Road Trip: Unrated" = 94 minutes
R2 "Road Trip: Unseen & Explicit" = 91 minutes

However, the R1 edition has more extras and has both a DTS and DD 5.1 soundtrack.

Once more, R2 gets screwed over! The only saving grace, is that the R1 edition is £17-99, but the R2 edition is only £14-99.

Still, I know which one I'd rather have! Bah Humbug, and all that....!!!

Wouldn't the difference be due to the different frame rate of PAL and NTSC? Haven't calculated it yet, but looks close ...

Reiner,

Yes, the time difference is probably due to the NTSC-Pal conversion, but that isn't what bothers me.

It's the "less extras" and "no DTS soundtrack" that ****es me off! Why, oh why, can't a Region 2 DVD be identical to its Region 1 counterpart?! It can't all be down to copyright issues, can it?!

Okay, I guess I missed you point then ... something I would not understand or be able to explain either.

I've got the R1 and cannot tell the difference between the dd & dts soundtracks on this particular film!

Yeah I agree DTS on this DVD is a waste of space! It adds nothing over the DD 5.1 sound so why did they add it in the first place?

HI,

It may not be possible to tell the difference between the DD and DTS soundtracks on this particular title, but at least you get the choice! Something that R2 owners won't get!

And how do you explain the "less extras" scenario?!
