Hi,
For those of you who were wondering if, and when, the Director's Cut (164 minutes) of the amazing "Cinema Paradiso" was going to get released, Arrow Films has given it a reasonably decent UK VHS and DVD release, from 21st May 2001, for £19-99!
The film is in a digitally-remastered 1.85:1 widescreen print, (though probably not Anamorphic!), and it looks stunning, even in comparison to the ****-poor version released by Tartan DVD recently!
There are no extras at all, but you are buying this disc for the film, not anything else. A shame that not even a trailer or mini-behind-the-scenes featurette couldn't have been located from some dank vault, but this is still a foreign language masterpiece!
Although rated a PG, the original video release was classified as a 15, and you may not want some scenes to be shown to youngsters: some minor-sexual moments take place, as do scenes in a slaughterhouse, that some may find disturbing. The film has been released uncensored, though, thankfully!
