X10 Starter?

I'm looking to control the lighting in my lounge as there a few lamps which I use to light the room and it's a pain to switch them all on and off whenever I want to watch a movie.

I've been reading up on this forum and was considering the X10 kit. I was wondering what I would need as a starter kit to control 4 lamps.

If I'm considering this, I wondered what other applications people used this for?

Just read an article in Macworld (issue Nov 04) and they list these vendors:

http://www.x10.co.uk
http://www.laser.com (starter pack £43.20)
http://www.simplyautomate.com

It seems you have to search for x10 or x-10

By the way I have never ordered anything from the above so I don't know what they are like.
