Just read over at the digital bits that Universal have fixed the Jurassic Park DTS track on new pressings of the movie. Unfortunetely, Universal will not be replacing the discs. <br />Its a shame because i really want a fixed release but its not worth buying the movie again.

could you tell me what was wrong with the copy thats out now on region1 an why is there a new one out.

In reviews people always mentioned that the bass on the DTS was lacking. I thought it was fine....that was ofcourse until i got a sub...Jurassic Park DTS was the only DVD that failed to gain much improvement by the addition of a sub. Ofcourse this is fixed by adding extra values to the sub while watching Jurassic Park. However, i heard that the new disc is suppose to be perfect and just like it should be.

This has been coming a long time. I was at DTS last November and they were not happy with how the DVD sounded. They wouldn't be drawn on a definite answer, but the gist of it was that a new version would be pressed. It's now been available for a few weeks.
There was a problem with the way the bass was mixed. As well as a lot of the bass being moved from the LFE channel to the L/R mains, it was also 4db lower than it should have been.
The problem is, Universal have made it very difficult to spot the new pressing. The ONLY definite way of spotting the new disc is to look on the inner most part of the DVD itself and check for "D2R2". The original disc had "D2R1".

Yeah, and I wonder if they did this on purpose so we have go out and buy another one!
I for one won't be, as the one I've got sounds OK to me!

I wonder how many more DVD's are like this,whether DTS or DD?

Well it looks like all your scepticism is misplaced. According to the digital bits Universal are going to replace the defective DTS discs. Can you believe that Universal are actually going to help out their customers, this must be a first.
I will be calling them today to see if I can get my disc replaced, even though it will probably be cheaper for me to order a new one once I have paid for postage and packaging. Oh well at least Universal are making the effort.

The defective disc is their fault, so they should pay shipping costs!

I would like to get a replacement, but because we're in the UK are we still allowed. Any help would be great....thanks <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
So has anyone phoned the universal helpline number to get a replacement?
