Just wondered which version of this people will be buying, if any? It seems the only 2 disc sets are R2 & R4, but is anyone waiting to see what future R1 releases bring forth? Or possibly R3?

Unfortunately I don't think there will be any version of this dvd that will make me like the film. Was veeeeery sloooow IMO :thumbsdow
Although I would be semi interested to see how they did some of the effects.

No not at all, its just very cheesy and takes forever for anything to happen, almost seemed more like a corny love story with a couple of actions scenes thrown in rather than a 'disaster' movie.
Developing characters is essential, in a well acted film with great dialogue. This however is a mediocre film with a couple of nice sfx scenes thrown in.

For me to have cared an ounce about the "character development" in that film, first of all decent dialogue has to be backed up with excellent acting.
Come on, no-one went to see this film, thinking it would be a mind-challenging belter of intelligencia did they?
It's hardly "Il Postino" now is it?

So not having seen the film yet are we saying that it's not worth purchasing the dvd then?
On either region?

I had a feeling when this was first advertised, with the big waves hitting NY trailer that this was going to be a great SFX film and little else.
And i think that is exactly what it was, i dont think it was a particually bad film, i enjoyed it for what it was, and it was an SFX, rather than character driven movie.
A bit like Van Helsing, but then that was totally rubbish

I wouldnt let other people decide for you mate, rent it when its released and make up your own mide, everyone has different tastes, I know some people who really loved Van Helsing and thought it was excellent and I know some people who think it is a load of rubbish.

I enjoyed it, it was a good no brainer and although everyone is expressing opinions on the film, no one is actually answering the question!
WHICH REGION TO BUY!
Not whether he should or not!

Good point. ;) That was the original question, although I don't hold with the "threads should always stick to topic" theory, as the most interesting ones are often the ones which go way off topic, therefore I have no objection to expanding the discussion.
