good news it would seem that italian job is to be released on region 2 on dvd on october 10th 2001.
play also have it on pre-order.

ps. there is also a release date on region 2 titles on plays site such as planes, trains and automobiles and the much awaited Trading Places. Other bargins to be ordered is the karate kid trilogy at £15.99 (for 3 films one would maybe expect this is a miss print though.)
