Plasma Calibration

I know this question has probably been asked a million times but..... I have just bought a Panny PE37 Plasma and am absolutely delighted with it, and am coming to near what I would consider to be the end olf my "run in" period. All my setting are currently just below half way.

What do people recommend for getting the picture settings to the right levels? I have heard some people say to use DVE discs, some people say to use the THX optimiser on the star wars dvds and other have said to just use personal taste and setup it up yourself.

What are peoples opinions? Is the DVE option better than the THX optimisers (which are free)

DVE has a whole lot more to it than a freebie in a hidden corner of Star wars. There's no such thing as a free lunch. But the THX optimiser is a good place to start, you might be quite happy with the results, and save yourself £15.

I'm not sure how far you should go with the calibration/optimisation aspect. A great deal depends on ambient lighting,personal taste and the quality of the source material. Also personal preferences change with time as does the performance of your display.
Best compromise is to rely on a small number of presets then choose the best for your current viewing and if necessary tweak the contrast, brightness or warmth to taste.
