View Full Version : RGB/Scart - Is there a cable difference?

Just ordered a Panasonic TX32PK1. It has an RGB compatible scart on the rear. I will be connecting a TOSH SD2109 DVD which also has RGB. Do I need a special connector cable or will a normal scart to scart lead do the trick?
I have a Denon AVC 1530 Pro-Logic Amp that I intend to connect to both the TV and DVD using stereo phono audio. Is there a better way?

A normal good quality scart will do you fine.
Make sure the TV is set to recieve RGB as one of the av inputs and the dVD is outputting RGB and it will work fine.

Lektropacks do very good scarts in their home cinema range (the pro range is overkill).
I recommend snipping pin 19 at the TV end to disable the composite output in the other direction. You may find snipping the relevant audio pins is useful too in avoiding audio leakage from the tuner stage (although selecting a dead channel before engaging the RGB input will suffice)

You should ensure that all pins on the SCART cable are connected and that they are all fully screened.
The reason I state the above is that I initially ended up with a 'crappy' SCART lead which caused me a lot of grief in terms of picture interference and then when I upgraded to an individually screened cable the cable found that only the wires required to allow normal AV were connected which meant that both S-Video and RGB would not work.
