Having watched the Korean Superbit DVD of Black Hawk Down this weekend, I was wondering what is the best DVD soundtrack you have heard?

IMO the DTS ES 6.1 Soundtrack from Blade II was a pearler :) the LOTR EE soundtracks are also top

That could be 3 questions really,
A. Which DVD soundtrack has the best fidelity?
B. Which DVD soundtrack appeals to the musical taste of the person asked?
C. Which DVD soundtrack best suits the movie it accompanies?
For me, both A & C would be the 2-disc DTS release of 'Dances with Wolves', B would be 'Forrest Gump'.

An Impossible question to answer as some people ( myself included ) love to have all their speakers working when watching a modern day blockbuster ( i like to hear lots of sounds back and forth between front and rear speakers and whizzing all over my head ) The film i have on DVD which most impressed me for surround sound duties isn't even english speaking, its a little film called Hero the version i own is the 2 disc Korean version (Possibly Hong Kong sourced ) with a 1536 full DTS bitrate and the library scene is the best sound i have ever heard as far as enjoying surround effects goes.
Black Hawk Down the Korean Superbit i own is also very impressive but more in an all round Hollywood type of way, other films like Armageddon - Criterion Edition or Pearl Harbor - Directors Cut or Titanic etc etc etc sound amazing but Hero impressed me even more and its a low budget film ( by Hollywood standards )

There are 2 versions worth considering at the moment.
Hong Kong and Japanese version this site compares them both ( i preferred the Hong Kong ) The Edco release is great but they claim the Japanese version is better ( i disagree ) http://www.compare.dvdbeaver.com/
You can buy the Japanese or Hong Kong versions from various online sites such as HMV Japan or Korean dvds and i would imagine sites such as Movietyme or Disc Emporium even carry them.

I don't think there is one I could pick out, but there are moments from several I can think of:
Saving Private Ryan (DTS) - The beach landings
LOTR:FOTR - The Dwarf Mines
Touching The Void - Inside the chasm
LOTR:ROTK - Inside Mount Doom
Star Wars: Phantom Menace - Pod Racing
U-571 - Depth Chargers

Very difficult to single one out, so here's a list of my current favorites, in rough alphabetical order:
Amélie, DTS (French comedy)
Atlantis, DTS (Disney)
Black Hawk Down, DTS (one of the very best for sure)
Gladiator, DTS
LOTR:FOTR extended, DTS
LOTR:TT extended, DTS
Master and Commander, DTS
Moulin Rouge, DTS
Monster's Inc, DTS
The Mummy Returns, DTS
Saving Private Ryan, DTS (although it doesn't live up to my old laserdisc)
A couple more that aren't too bad either:
Finding Nemo, DTS
Some scenes from the English Patient
Hehe, guess it's obvious I kind'a like DTS... ;)

Ah
I see I didn't understand the question!
For overall impact believe it or not Lilo and Stitch really shows your system off
It wasn't until watching this film that the missus realised the benefit of a decent sound system
Also the icefield section in Totan A.E really has some room shaking base
brotherhood of the wolf french dts
Family Guy

For me, it has to be the 1931 version of Dracula in Dolby Digital mono. The script of this particular movie sounds better to my ears than any modern day Hollywood blockbuster.
Saving Private Ryan DTS
Hero DTS
Reign of fire DTS
Desperado Superbit DTS
Terminator 2 DTS
The fast and the furious DTS
Blade 2 DTS
The Fifth Element DTS
The rock DTS
Titan AE DTS
Die Another Day DTS
Seems I love my DTS too
I also have black Hawk down Superbit on order! Also the Japanese version of aliens DTS to watch as well!

Is it a good idea to buy Hero now?
I heard Tarentino was going to re release Hero with loads of extra footage? or did i hear wrong

Coming out about July or August in America is a limited cinema release of Hero, Tarentino claims to have fought for the full length version to be released ( it's still not clear what he means when he says "full length" as Miramax might have been trying to impose cuts to the shortened version already out ) this film is selling real cheap at CD Wow so i would say buy it and if and when the 2 hour version is finally released you can upgrade to it.

If I were you I would purchase the current two-disc version of Hero as eventually when it's released in the States you could well lose the full Bit rate DTS - ES soundtrack which quite frankly is stunning.
As Foxy above me said I don't think the Cut will be any longer, more like he was fighting to keep the film in its current state rather than miraMax chopping it to pieces.
