I have just seen pics of an original star wars trilogy (DVDS) on a very well known online auction site, and its DTS.

They seem to be selling it for various amounts.

Is this actually a trilogy?? Is there actually somewhere that sells this?? Or could this be something else.

If it is true, apart from ebay where can i get my hands on one of these DTS original trilogy sets.

Cheers

People have been selling DVDs of the Star Wars Trilogy on eBay for 3 or 4 years mate, have you never noticed them before?

I myself have had a few sets of the Trilogy off eBay, cost about £25 for the 3 Discs and each set has been different. The first set had a pretty bad transfer of the SE Laserdiscs which had burned in Subs, the second set was pretty good quality but had lip-sync problems and was taken from the Theatrical Laserdisc release and the last set I had were taken from the SE Laserdisc, they had no Subs, DTS, some extras and the quality was alot better than any VHS version I have watched but now that the Trilogy is being released Officially all previous copies are going to look rubbish in comparison but I doubt it will be too long before you see DVD9 bootlegs of the Official Trilogy on eBay and probaley before the set is actually released in the shops.

Yep, poor copy of the LD version. The sound is awfull, the DTS track is very hissy.

There was a genuine VCD version in Asia, not sure what that was like ??

Can't wait till the box set comes out  but then i'm still a bit unsure like everyone else what they'll be like with more cuts & alterations ??

Ah Ok thanks, pretty much what i thought anyway.

Well roll on a few months, and well get the proper version.

Is the Sept. release date for a worldwide release, or are some areas getting it earlier ??

If you want the original theatrical release (non SEs) then you'll have to get a laserdisc conversion of some sort - Lucas will never release them like that (so he says). If you're happy with the SEs, then roll on September. :)

TBH I am gobsmacked noone has tried to sue eBay yet. They blatently disregard so many illegal items on their site, and all they have to do is hire a few eBay police, so to speak, and it would be sorted.

They consistently don't ban people, just delete an auction, which, surprise surprise, is relisted only minutes or hours later.

Surely it is tantamount to handling stolen goods, or at least they are liable to be prosecuted in the same way Napster was?

They are becoming a disgrace, the amount of times I report illegal items and they don't seem to give a ****.

I do believe that "Tiffany's" as the the jewellers have filed a law suit against ebay , I'll see if I can find the story

here it is (http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=internetNews&storyID=5475297)

I completely agree with 'Tiffany' over this. eBay are profiting from stolen or counterfeit goods, send 'em to the cleaners!

They only seem to act on such matters when a major fuss is created & it is really unavoidable for them to continue without action.

For example, a few years ago when the Nazi memorabilia etc was being auctioned on ebay. The amount of negative coverage it received (on a global scale) forced them into banning such auctions.

Basically, a major lawsuit against them would have the same effect.
