havent these been about for a while now? Or are these updated models which have strikingly similar designations?

AFAIK, the Samsung is NTSC only. The European model is called 935. There were many complaints about its picture quality through DVI. Two models are replacing it in the US, the 841 ang 941, the former already on sale and, according to AVS, with many problems regarding build (Hardware & software). Seems like picture quality is improved, though.

Makes you laugh what some manufacturers claim about their hardware..
Firstly non of the dvd players above are HiDef, upscaling SD doesn't make it HD it just makes it upscaled...

Even funnier, I'd like to see anyone show one of the above dvd players outperform any of the current or previous generation of video processors such as the Lumagens, iScan HD, Crystalio etc...

True indeed, rscott. I think the Blu-ray players are the only HiDef at the moment, right? Are they available yet or just showcase models?
I don't whether the Samsung was the first upscaling player, or maybe the first to upscale through DVI, but there are many and certainly much better players out there now.

My Yamakawa does upscale too as I'm sure your aware, but I have often considered how many lines of image are stored on the disc.
one of the previous posts says 480i but even rgb is more than this. Or am I getting confused :confused:

:grin: you have me a bit confused anyway!
Your player does upscale. What will be stored on disc will most likely be 480i for NTSC type stuff and 576i for pal..... RGB is just a method of transmitting the info

Ignore me Buns, have checked a few other threads on hi def and upscaling. What I meant in regard to RGB is that when connected this way my Sky + shows 625i lines on my plasma.
I know I am getting standards confused here :blush:

As Ad said RGB is only a transport method for the picture.
Pal is 625 lines total, with ~49 lines not used for picture resolution, this gives a total picture resolution of 576i/p. So Pal can be described as 625 or 576.

How much do they charge to ship to england? Customs charges? Are there any UK dealers of the Momitsu DVD-V880?
