Small LCD TV 14-17" plus mounting options.

Hi in need of a little advice, well its for my mother to be more accurate.

My mam is wanting to get a small LCD tv and she wants in on an adjustable arm. Hard to explain but she wants it mounted in small alcove on the wall but on an adjustable 'arm' that you can swing out into the room when the TV is needed. Does this make any sense? Kinda like an angle-poise lamp.
Anyone know of an such products?

Also can anyone reccomend a small LCD TV? These from ebay 17" widescreen seem to be good with 3 year warranty?

Costco are selling an adjustable arm wall bracket for Vesa compatible LCD's (max weight 35kg from recollection) for around £50. In silver a quite well finished. Sounds like exactly what you need.

If you are buying one to be mounted high, you'll need a wide viewing angle.

Seems a decent price too.

Just got the same TV from Microland Tech, http://www.microlandtechnology.com/products.asp?partno=MN4692

for £390 inculdeing VAT and delivery (which took two days).

Really impressed by the picture quality from TV, DVD and my cube, well worth it in my opinion.

Also picked up this mounting bracket from ebay for £17, which suits mu needs perfectly.

I've heard mixed reviews about the Relisys. Some say its awesome, others have said its terrible. I'd like to view one.

I got the Black & Silver version about a month ago from Richer Sounds and can't really fault it, i watch it reasonably close as it's in the bedroom, the PQ is excellent havent noticed any blurring and the built in speakers are surprisingly good and not 'tinny' as i expected them to be.
The TV Tuner is a little clunky, but with any luck you will only need to tune it in once. It doesnt come with a Scart socket so make sure you have other means of connecting it (s-Video - Scart) all in all i'm very happy with it and looks great on the wall.

Definitely reccommend it :thumbsup:

I too have just bought the Relisys RLT1720BS from Microlandtechnology.com for £392 inc deliv. (Black & Silver looks better than the Silver)

Bit early to say for certain but picture quality is excellent, especially when the DVD connects using the Componenet Video Leads. Looks good too and I bought an extending wall bracket from digiuk.com for £69.

The bracket doesn't go as snug to the wall as I'd hoped but it extends to 40cm for great viewing at the end of the bed !

Bracket is Abbiecomp AB178A Delta series double swing arm, wall mount monitor arm.

whats the Relisys lcd like with fast moving pictures?

Had a bit more time with my Relisys now and i am very impressed considering the cost.

DVD is excellent, especically cartoons and "bright, colourful" movies. Only thing that bothers me is two slightly bright spots in the top corners - only visible in dark scenes or the wide screen that is not 16:9 (borders top & bottem) - don't know if there is any way to remove this?, which I can live with.

TV is same as my old sony CRT, with picture quality mainly dictated by signal quality. Not seen any footie yet so can't coment on the blurring i have seen menchioned elsewhere

Games are excellent, my cube is flawless through the component cables i just bought, bright rich colours in mario/zelda etc and the darkness of Resident Evil displayed equally well. Also tested it with the fastest game i have, NTSC F-Zero GX, and there was not a hint of blurring which is good enough for me.

Sound is also suprisingly good, major improvment over my mono sony.

Overall i would say this is an excellent purchase for anyone looking for a "bedroom" TV, probably too small for a main room but otherwise an excellent purchase.

thnx clonwer - some nice feedback there.
the only thing that bothers me is the lack of a SCART socket. seems a strange omission from the set. one of the devices i plan on connecting up to the display is a digisender, which has a fixed Scart output. can you get an adapter to overcome this and would there be any likely degradation in image quality?

Digisender likely to composite only so a "good ol" Scart to 3 phono adapter is what you will need.

yeah but the scart lead is moulded to the back of the digisender so i guess i'd need some sort of scart input and phono output...does such a thing exist?

if you look enough you will but a new digisender maybe the key!
