Please help.

I am going to build, at long last a home media box.

I intend to build a bare bones system innitially, make sure it works and then add to it as funding and needs develop.

A few months ago, I was looking at an Asus motherboard?

an A7Delux or soemthing?

What about a CPU.

Innitailly it will be used for possibly palying DVD's (DTS and DD) ripping some CD's etc

My plan is to have a small HD for the software innitially, and then use RAID technology to base the ripped CD's jpegs from digital cameras etc.

Any advice on the preferred core stuff most welcome.

Well I'm using an Asus A7V8X-MX for mine, it's an M-ATX mobo but it turns out I could have used an ATX one as it would have fit in my case

I'm currently using an AthlonXP2100+ which seems to be doing a stirling job of DVD playback / AVIs etc, might not be up to HiDef stuff though ;)

What case are you using? thats gonna make a big difference :)
