A friend of mine said he bought a DVD/HDD recorder panasonic brand, very big hard drive, and a SMART media link thing,

It cost about £1000

Does anyone have anymore info on this product?

How does this compare to Sky plus, AS far as, connect my panasonic sky box to the DMR-E100?

How would it be different from sky plus.

Think of the Panasonic DMR-xxx as a digital replacement for your VCR.. albeit with chasing-playback, time-slip etc. features. It's not a PVR and doesn't pretend to be.. so it cannot really be compared with TiVo / Sky+.
