Check out the site here - Star Trek First Contact DVD with mag for £3.99

I'm going to have a look for it tomorrow as I just saw it advertised on the telly.

There is a special 2 disc edition of First Contact out early next year but this will keep me going until then

I don't want any more though, First Contact for £3.99 will do just fine and dandy

Looks like a way to repackage & shift the old Next-Gen & the non-spec ed discs.

Still, £4 for First Contact is pretty sweet.

Is it out now or has a date been given?

Looked at this today and it said usual price £8.99 per issue. Next Gen is first. First the movies, then the series with three episodes per disc. For the entire TV series that's 59 discs x £8.99 = £530.41p.

These box sets are floating around at approximately £35 in various stores / sites which works out at £245. They come with extra features, in much slicker packaging and take up less than half the shelf space.

The magazine is stuff reprinted from the interminable "Star Trek Fact Files" magazine (does anyone know if it ever finished?), so nothing new, or of much interest there.

The plan is to do Voyager, DS9, Classic ST and Enterprise as well.

So in about 8 years you can have complete Trek, no shelfspace and will have paid more than twice the price for the privilege.

Sad thing is I know some Trek fanboy/girl types who in Next Gen alone have all the standard DVD box sets, the "Best Of" compilations, the "TV Movies" box set (i.e. the same double episodes from the standard box sets, but spliced together as 90 minute "movies"), and the Borg Cube (all 7 DVD box sets in a cardboard box basically). These same individuals are as we speak wetting themselves in anticipation of forking out yet more money for this incarnation of the series.

The call it being "loyal Star Trek fans". I call it having too much money, and too little common sense.

The Paramount cash cow strikes again!

Can't blame the 'Mount for taking advantage of those buck-toothed nerds. I heartily approve, in fact - fleece 'em for all they are worth

OK I bought this and must say it's top stuff.

It's the SAME First Contact already out on DVD with 2.35:1 Anamorphic widescreen and 5.1 sound...extras -Teaser and theatrical trailer and in amaray case.

The bit of card the dvd and mag come in/on is HUGE!

The mag is all about the First Contact movie and it's rather good in nice glossy good quality paper with a big pull-out Enerprise E spec section.

If your looking to add this movie to your collection, while you wait for the SE out early next year then BUY! BUY! BUY

£3.99...tis well worth it guys (although It's the first and only one I'll be buying )

Go get it before it sells out

Cool

I saw it today looks like the First Contact was taken out of line in the series as all the DVD’s have spine artwork that goes across the lot of them.
The Next DVD out is the first in the TV series and week 3 is Generations.

Thanks for this, couldn't find it in my local newsagent and couldn't be bothered to drive into town just for this, so ordered it off their web site for £3.99 delivered.

Have to say I was suspicious as to whether the DVD was a straight copy of the original retail version or some kind of horrid compressed transfer.
I also noticed that the casing was slightly different as too was the disk itself; Notably "Not for Resale" stamped on it.
But after viewing it tonight I pretty sure it is a straight forward transfer.?!

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think for £3.99 it is an absolute bargain.

No doubt the future editions will be more expense. A common ploy to draw you in I suppose.

I already have all the Trek DVD's and the most thing I wanted was them to be in amaray cases. I just wished the proper releases had these covers which actually look nice and similar to the VHS versions.

I have had many discs being received cracked and brand new or gradually crack over time. This was due to the packaging.

There is no guarantee that they won't cancel the series part of the way through.

Also, the magazine is similar to the Star Trek Fact Files which I already have.

The advert also said the regular price was £7.99 and not £8.99.
