You could fill in the newspaper free dvd offer forms, i just received Big its pan and scan and has terrible adverts you can't skip at the beginning of the film, i won't waste my time with freebies from newspapers any more.

.....or VCD. http://www.allvcd.com/

If you want to watch only part of the film then, for most cases, DVD is the wrong platform.

I'm sending these dvd's to my younger sister abroad. She uses a fairly small 4:3 TV and doesn't appreciate the widescreen format.
Surely, there is somewhere I can get cheap, full-frame dvd's???

Cheers

Look for the Hollywood range as found in garages at 3 for £10.

Rubbish films but then they're 4x3!

For a fairly small square TV, if she insists on 4x3 transfers, then VCD will certainly provide the widest selection and the poorer quality probably won't matter on a small screen. Aside from that, then some studios produce 4x3 versions of some films - either on the same disc or as a separate option. But the numbers of these are somewhat limited and prices (other than for the crappy 'Hollywood' series Martin refers to) are no different to widescreen transfers.
