Tried finding this the other week to no avail. Any links to sites that have this?

Ordered it off YesAsia.com a few days back, cheapest I've seen it available for there. Hasn't arrived yet but I'm looking forward to it, Takeshi's movies are awesome.

I wouldn't compare it to Kill Bill though, the whole point of Kill Bill was that Tarantino took all his favourite Asian samurai movies and tried to combine them into the trashiest, most fun b-movie he could think of, and has succeeded, especially with reports of Volume 2 being better than the first.

Pity I can't see it in the cinemas though, not old enough :(

It's the limited first pressing with second disc, so I'm pretty sure it'll come way down in price with the next presing released.

I'm getting interested now. How can Kill Bill be nicked from a film made later?

There is a Zatoichi (2003) over at dvdslimited for £13. But it says R1 so could this be part of the series and not the film?

Zatoichi is a Japanese folk-hero and there have been loads of titles and appearances featuring the character.

The 2004 Kitano film is just the latest version to be made.

As both films are influenced by Asian films and genres that already exist, then it's not surprising that comparisons are being made.

I'd take Kitano over Tarrantino anyday though! :smashin:

Just watched this and it blows kill bill out of the water on every level. Amazing film, not sure if even going to watch KB 2 now will just seem a let down compared to this.

Forget Zatoichi. For true Kill Bill inspiration, you should seek out Lady Snowblood..

and it's Takashi Miike and Takeshi Kitano. ;)

Just seen it at Odan Covent Garden, and thouroughly enjoyed it. bit vague at times on how certain characters knew each other, but i've come to expext some vagueness in Jap films.

Otherwise, great action, some very funny moments , but to compare it to Kill Bill is off the mark and unfair to both films that have thier own merits.
